Just last month, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus was among those who spoke out after a group of Boston-area men sought to stage a “Straight Pride” parade in the city. He offered to auction off one of his basses with the money going to The Trevor Project, a LGBTQ charity. Now, he’s making good on that promise.

Hoppus has turned to Reverb to host an official auction for him, as he puts a pink plaid early 2000s Fender precision bass from his personal collection, with the returns helping out the Trevor Project.

“We call this plaid bass Groundskeeper Willie. I wrote a great deal of the bass riffs for the [2003] untitled album on this bass. It has the sticker of the unicorn on there and the pink Famous Stars and Straps keychain that has been on here for the past decade and a half,” Hoppus said of the bass guitar. “I’m auctioning it off to raise money for the Trevor Project, which is a great organization doing great work.”

In addition, Hoppus is also launching his own Reverb Shop where he’ll be auctioning off nearly 80 pieces of gear, including a Blue Microphones Vacuum Tube Condenser microphone that has been used on multiple blink-182 albums as well as the +44 recordings. According to Hoppus, the mic—which was custom powder coated hot pink for the musician—is one of his favorite pieces of studio equipment. “It’s been a staple of my studio setup ever since Jerry Finn told me to buy a Blue Bottle mic for Enema of the State,” Hoppus said.

Other items include a custom Fender Precision bass that features a custom pencil drawing of an Octopus by Craig Christy of Raygun Tattoo that was a favorite of Hoppus on tour for a long time. You’ll also find a pair of Avalon U5 Ultra Five Direct pre-amps that Hoppus has used dating back to 2001, an Ampeg SVT Classic amp that was used for the better part of a decade, a dozen API 512C preamps from Hoppus’ home studio, a 1972 Fender Precision bass guitar, an Analog Systems 8000 Modular synthesizer, two API 500VPR Lunchboxes, two Chandler Limited: LTD-2 compressors, and more.

The Trevor Project bass guitar auction launches on July 2, ending on July 8. Meanwhile, Hoppus official Reverb Shop will launch with the other items after the bass guitar auction concludes.
