If you have a black car in the state of Colorado, you might want to keep the theme on your license plates too. Until recently, dozens of license plate options were available in the state of Colorado, just not black. However, on January 10, 2023, that all changed.

Curious about these plates, I reached out to Derek Kuhn at the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles to learn more. Derek informed me that there are a total of four "Historical Plate" options. Black, red, and blue which became available on January 10, 2023, and the fourth option, the retro green and white mountain plate which became available on July 1, 2022.

Colorado's Historical license plates are available as serialized or personalized for passenger vehicles, adult buses, trailer coaches, and multi-purpose trailers. Anyone is qualified to purchase the plates for their vehicles if they are willing to pay the associated fees. Those fees are $25 for the Colorado Disability Funding Committee. Personalized plates will have an additional $60 fee.

I do have vehicles that are both black and blue... These new plates would look outstanding on both of them. If you would like to learn more about these new options for Colorado license plates, visit the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles.
