The 7th annual Record Store Day will take place this Saturday and there is a plethora of vinyl ready to be released. Each year it seems that more and more record labels get behind this celebration of music and our local record stores. That means some killer releases are coming for the joys of noise.

For a long time in this country the place to hang out when you were growing up was your local record store. They had all of the latest new music and all of the cool people where there. I’m sure for some of you that must have been Triple Play Records for me it was Street Side Records in St. Louis.

We would go on Saturdays to check out the new music and hook-up with friends. We spent most of our time people watching and just hanging out but it was a cool place. Those days might be gone but you can get the flavor this Saturday at Triple Play with the 7th annual Record Store day.

Then that night they will host an after party at Baron’s on Colorado Ave. There will be live music and a ton of fun so come out and celebrate the 7th annual Record Store Day this Saturday starting at 10am downtown Grand Junction.
