A New Jersey Diner is Forcing Teens to Pay a Gratuity
Should a restaurant be able to 'force' you to pay a gratuity? Absolutely not! That's why it's called a gratuity. The customer has the option to add it to the final bill or not. Well, the Wayne Hills Diner in New Jersey is making it mandatory, at least for some patrons.
The diner has been adding gratuity to the bills of teenagers who come in to the establishment in large groups. Many of the kids don't realize that the gratuity is already included and are then tipping on top of the included tip. However, the diner is NOT doing the same for adults, which is causing a bit of controversy.
