A Little Dynamite Goes a Long Way
July 16th the Florida Power & Light Company used 450 pounds of dynamite to demolish a 1960s power plant in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A little excessive don't ya think?
Apparently not, the Everglades Power Plant came down like a house of cards after a series of expositions weakened the building.
In its place they are building a new, more fuel efficient plant that runs on clean, low-cost American natural gas.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2014 and should be online in 2016.
