Every state has a few laws that are unusual, outdated, and sometimes outright bizarre… for example, did you know that it is illegal to have sexual relations with a porcupine in the state of Florida? What? Think about it, that law has to exist for some weird reason.

Here are a few of the strangest laws in Colorado, courtesy of Steven Louth Law Offices.

It is against the law to ride a horse while intoxicated.

Not only can you get a DUI while driving a car, riding a bike, and even a wheelchair, but that law extends to livestock as well. This makes me think that DUI laws originated long before cars existed. Imagine getting pulled over on your trusty steed!

In Pueblo, it is illegal to allow dandelions to grow inside city limits.

Would you rather have a pesky HOA, or a city government looking over your shoulder making sure you don’t have fun little dandelions on your lawn? Again, my question is: why does this law exist? My only inference is that an employee for the City of Pueblo hates joy, therefore hates dandelions.

It is unlawful to bring your horse or pack mule higher than the ground floor of any building.

I think it is interesting that it specifies horse and pack mule. Does that mean that donkeys, Clydesdales, and ponies are allowed? If it’s a matter of specification, that’s what I’m going to tell the cops when they try to kick me and my donkey off the balcony at Illegal Petes.

In Westminster, if you allow someone to park closer than 2 feet from you, you will be fined.

Now, this makes no sense. If someone inconveniences you, then you are at fault and will be charged. That's like someone spilling wine on your shirt, then making you buy them a new shirt. But again, these laws exist for a reason.
