A childhood tradition is alive and well at the Tru-Vu Drive-In Theater in Delta and here are five quick facts about this historic drive-in theater.

A lot of folks grew up going to the drive-in and have some great memories of those experiences. Others of us may not have experienced a drive-in movie until adulthood. Still, others, perhaps, have never even been to a drive in. That may be hard to believe, but it's true.

Western Colorado is fortunate to have two of these dying breeds with one in Montrose and one in Delta, and they seem to be extremely popular destinations. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees - meaning we tend to be blind to some of the coolest features in western Colorado simply because we live here.

So, with that in mind, here are five simple facts you should know about the Tru-Vu Drive-In at Delta.

  • 1

    It's Historic

The Tru-Vu opened in Delta in 1955. I wonder if they played 1955 classics like Rebel Without a Cause, Lady and the Tramp, Oklahoma! or Revenge of the Creature.

  • 2

    Capacity

The Tru-Vu can hold up to 400 cars at one time. Theoretically, smaller cars go up front, with larger vehicles to the back.

  • 3

    Two is Better Than One

The Tru-Vu always shows double features, so it's like getting two movies for the price of one. Just think how much popcorn you could eat during two movies.

  • 4

    Great Price

The ticket price is $8.50, with kids 11 and under FREE, which makes for a great family value when they feature kid-friendly movies.

  • 5

    Weekends Are For Movies

The Tru-Vu is open on weekends with start times at 7:45pm. You never want to be late to a drive-in.
