Whether it's ancient cliff dwellings, historic mining cabins, castles, or deluxe high-rises Colorado has all kinds of unique architecture. Here are five interesting buildings you have to see in the Centennial State.
1.) The Spaceship House
This peculiar private residence known as the Spaceship House or The Sculptured House, can be seen while driving on I-70. The Genesee home has iconic architecture, and has been featured on MTV, HGTV, CBS, Discovery, and in Forbes Magazine. You can read more about its history and the building process here.
2.) Petrified Wood Gas Station
According to Roadside America, this structure in Lamar, Colorado lays claim as being the oldest building on the planet, being that the pieces of petrified wood that make up the walls and floor are over 175 million years old. In 1962, the service station was converted into a tire center, but you can still stop by and snap a photo at this unique establishment.
3.) Cano's Castle
Located in Antonito, Cano's Castle is definitely a sight to be seen. The saucer dome has a ten-foot-high viewing platform, and other UFO-themed items among the property. Stop inside for a souvenir to document your strange stop.
