Going to the fair is something to look forward to every year. Watching rodeos, fun exhibits, visiting with farm animals, plus the rides and fair food it doesn't get much better than that.

Colorado.com recently did a write up on some of the cool ones here in the state we call home which just made me more excited for the summertime and all the fun we're going to have to check out these different fairs. There were quite a few on their list that take place over on the front range so I left those out. As much as I love a good fair, I'm not driving all day to go when we have great ones here on the Western Slope.

Here are just a few that you're going to want to put on your 2020 calendar now:

  • Montrose County Fair and Rodeo - July 20th through 25th. You can watch the fun rodeo action, plus there is a Bacon Day. Also lots of eating competitions such as bacon, watermelon, and Jello.
  • Mesa County Fair - July 14th through 18th. You don't want to miss out on the demolition derby and a personal favorite is always watching the pro bull riders. They will also continue their long tradition of the wine-making competition.
  • Archuleta County Fair - July 30th through August 2nd. - Free live music, rodeo action, livestock auction and so much more going on for this traditional fair.
