It breaks my heart to say it, but it's time to buy a new truck. The idea of monthly payments is the last thing on this Earth I want to have to deal with right now. Unfortunately, it's time. When buying a new truck in Western Colorado, where's the best place to go?

I bought my current truck brand new in 2002 at a Western Colorado dealership. My heart was set on a Ford Ranger. At the time, I made the promise to myself to keep the vehicle for 200,000 miles or 15 years, whichever came first.

Well, here it is 16 years later, and the truck is closing in on 200,000 miles. I'm perfectly happy with it, but it seems time has taken its toll. I ran it through the car wash last night, and part of the truck literally flew off. When your vehicle can no longer stand up to the forces of your friendly neighborhood car wash, you know it's time to replace.

I have every intention of buying from a Western Colorado dealership. The area's car lots have been very good to me, so they, in return, get my business. My cousin bought his truck by posting what he wanted and how much he was willing to pay, and then let the dealerships duke it out. Again, no matter what, I'm buying local.

It would be nice to stay with a smaller truck. My requirements involve grocery-getting, hauling the occasional tools, and every once in a blue moon, hauling a small utility trailer.

My buddy just bought a Ford Edge. It's not a truck, but it meets my needs. One requirement - I have to have 6-feet of uninterrupted space. It can be corner to corner if need be. I play the giant bass, you know, like you see in a symphony. It's exactly 6-feet in length.

Bells and whistles do not apply here. We're talking truck - four wheels, a cab, and ultimately, a trailer hitch. Nothing fancy. My money will go to the dealer with the best vehicle at the best price.

Help a guy out. My executive decision making ability sucks rocks big time. The next vehicle I buy will have to face the same criteria - 15 years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first. I intend to own only two more vehicles before I die.

The poll below includes every new auto dealer I could think of. I apologize if I missed somebody. If so, please write the company's name in, and it will be added.
