Can you believe it's been 35 years since Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan hit movie theaters? Guess what? It's returning to the silver screen this weekend, and it's coming to Grand Junction. Where can you see it?

I stood in line in the "field of weeds" located behind Monument Twin Cinemas in Grand Junction back in 1982 to see the original run of Star Trek II. This movie was the coolest thing I had ever seen! It had received glowing reviews and ultimately lived up to everything Star Trek fans wanted.

Let me tell you, tears flowed all over the north theater at the twin cinemas when Spock died (Spoiler Alert). There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

Coming up this Sunday, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, in this case, the director's cut (which I find inferior to the original release) makes its triumphant return to Grand Junction. Where can you see it?

The movie can be seen this Sunday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 13, at the Regal Canyon View Stadium 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Word on the street is the feature will include bonus footage, including an interview with William Shatner.

This will be a real treat, the perfect way to wrap up the summer. Yes, you can watch the movie on DVD or Netflix. Let me tell you, though, you won't believe how good this movie looks on the big screen. The optical effects can hold their own against today's movies, even after 35 years.

If you were there to see Star Trek II when it first came to Grand Junction, make plans to see it again. If you weren't there or weren't born yet, get yourself a ticket and watch this epic adventure unfold they way it was meant to. Seize this opportunity to see a space-adventure masterpiece on the big screen.
