The long list of western Colorado cities that allow the sale of recreational marijuana is getting longer.

While the western slope's largest city still does not allow the sale of recreational pot, other locals are stepping out and moving ahead with the rest of the state.

In November, Palisade residents voted to allow recreational pot sales, and it's expected the first pot shops will be up and going later this year.

The town of Craig, which currently allows only the sale of medical marijuana may add its name to the list of pot cities this year. According to the Post Independent, the Craig City Council is in the process of approving ordinances for the April ballot that would allow residents to vote for legalization.

Meanwhile, a group called Grand Junction Cannabis Action Now says it has gathered enough signatures to put a recreational pot measure on the city's April ballot, so we may be adding Grand Junction to the map in a few months.

The list is growing, but here are the western Colorado towns and cities where recreational pot is currently available: Silt, Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, Pagosa Springs, Debeque, Parachute, Cortez, Mancos, Durango, Telluride, Silverton, Gunnison, Aspen, Basalt, Glenwood Springs, and Eagle.

Is 2017 the year Grand Junction joins the list?
