Western Colorado Employment Springs Up in April
For much of Western Colorado, jobs are springing up and helping put some green in people's wallets.
Colorado's unemployment rate dropped from 2.6% in March to 2.3% in April. According to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), that's the lowest unemployment rate since the series began in 1976.
The CDLE says 12,100 more people were working in April than in March. The national unemployment rate was more stagnant with only a 0.10% drop from March to April. The US unemployment rate ended the month at 4.4%
Around Western Colorado, increases in employment opportunities helped drop unemployment rates in many counties including Mesa County where unemployment dropped from 3.8% in March to 3.2% in April.
Other counties saw similar drops as more people were able to find employment. Here's a comparison of unemployment rates from April compared to (March) of this year in various western Colorado counties.
