The Giving Tree Program works to Fulfill Gift Wishes of the less fortunate here in Junction and Mesa county. The deadline to participate is this Saturday, December 10th.

Mesa County Libraries and Grand Valley Catholic Outreach are working together again this year. Christmas trees are located at the Central Library in Grand Junction, as well as the library branches in Clifton, De Beque, and Fruita.

Every year this initiative benefits between 150 and 200 people in need and "a lot of these folks are really underprivileged, they're down on their luck, they're really going through some hard times and it means a lot to them to get some of these gifts" according to Bob Kretschman of Mesa County Libraries. One of the library employees I visited with said she pulled a tag last year. A local elderly gentleman had requested a coat and gloves. She said making that purchase was the highlight of her Christmas.

Stop by and help a family less fortunate this holiday season. It just takes a few minutes to grab a tag and fill out their contact information. Again, the deadline to return an unwrapped gift is this weekend. It's the season of giving and helping a neighbor in need is what it's all about. Merry Christmas and thank you for your support!
