There's a fundraiser today at Barnes & Noble benefiting Operation Revamp and The Veteran's Art Center. They're open until 9 pm so there still time to help this great local cause.

Author S.K. Alfstad will be in-store signing his latest book "Theology Of War, and why the Taliban are winning". According to Alfstad, the purpose of the memoir is twofold. First, many military chaplains get tired of hearing the question from people who know little about combat chaplains: "You were far away from the fighting, right?" "You weren't really close to any danger, right?" This book should dispel that myth. Second, most civilians do not know what our day-to-day activities are like. It's an up-close look at the life of a military chaplain.

The center includes open studios, woodshop, stained glass and ceramic studios, letterpress print shop, fabric arts and more.  The center also provides an art gallery with monthly exhibitions and a gift shop with numerous veteran and military family artists pieces for sale.
