The Grand Junction Police Department share this important Airshow traffic and viewing information.

The gates open at 8:30 and the show starts at 10 Saturday and Sunday mornings. Here are some tips the Police are suggesting. First, try and get out as early as you can. Second, be patient because there will be traffic congestion on Horizon Drive through the new round-a-bouts and up to the airport. I-70 too will be backed up near the Horizon exits.

The GJPD suggest that you take an alternate route on H Road into the airport. You'll avoid most of the traffic by using 12th Street (or 27 Rd) and then turn east on H Road.  When you near the airport, signs will direct you to the correct parking lot.

Some of the desert areas around the airport will be restricted per the FAA requirements for an "acrobatic box" which is where the stunts are performed, and it's also a designated emergency crash area. Part of this area does include 27 1/4 Road. Remember too that RV's, high-profile vehicles, and tents will not be allowed in the desert if police think they might be a distraction to the pilots.

Finally, the shooting ranges in the desert will be open but there will be periodic closures at the 27 1/4 Road desert access point.
