The Best Black Friday Deal Isn’t In A Mall

All 41 Colorado State Parks are free on Black Friday!

For many of you battling the crowds at Wal-Mart or the mall is an after Thanksgiving holiday tradition. Lining up before dawn on Black Friday in hopes of grabbing a deal on a gift may be the stuff dreams are made of for some. For those of us with zero interest in that, how about a free day at a Colorado State Park? Now, that's a deal!

The offer is part of the "Great Outdoors Colorado Inspire Initiative." The GOCO established the plan to "...Inspire Initiative to encourage youth and their families to connect to the outdoors by establishing places for kids and families to play, by providing culturally relevant programs that build off of one another, and by creating pathways to outdoor stewardship jobs and leadership roles." 

Whatever the reasoning behind the idea, I like it. Several parks are having special happenings on Black Friday too. Some are offering snacks, guided hikes, tours, and more. For more information and event details, click HERE.
