Two great events collide this evening at The Art Center. It's the First Friday of October. Plus, it's the first day of the new exhibit, Art Unleased.   First Friday receptions are cool enough with the food trucks, special roundtable discussions, this week it's with the artists of Bliss Fishing, Josh Butler, Charles Hardy, Roger McCoy, and Araan Schmidt, and the genuine good time of taking in the artwork.

However, The Art Center has teamed up with Roice-Hurst Humane Society to bring art patrons and animal lovers together for today's First Friday evening, a fabulous exhibit, and a celebration of National Shelter Dog month. The Art Unleashed exhibit will surely bring smiles to all visitors as they enter the Atrium. Most of the artwork is for sale, with proceeds going to support both The Art Center and Roice-Hurst Humane Society.

As a former lab owner, this piece caught my eye. My friend for over 14 years was a yellow lab.  I miss her every day. I passed on the art but had this doggie been yellow, I may not have been able to walk away without it.

This is artwork is amazing. I felt like I could reach out and pat this puppy's head.

And no, they certainly didn't forget you cat lovers.

There's still plenty of time to get over to The Art Center this evening. The First Friday event continues until 9pm. The Art Center is located at 1803 North 7th St. Grand Junction, Colorado. Art and Dogs rock! Ok, cats are cool too. We'll see you there.
