More Americans are moving to the mountain and western states now more than ever.

I was one. One of those mid-westerners that moved to Colorado. I had no idea I was part of a trend. Americans are moving west. Heading to the Mountain and Pacific West states now more than ever. All while the Northeast and Midwest continue to lose folks.

In 2017, more people moved out of Illinois than any other state. I understand way. I lived there for a few years back in the early 00's. The crime rate and cost of living were too high in Chicago and there was nothing cool about Springfield where I made my home.

More people moved to Vermont last year than any other state. I've been to Manchester. It's pretty country up there. These results are from the United Van Lines’ 41st Annual National Movers Study, which tracks their customers' movements and migration patterns from the past year.

The Mountain West continues to increase in popularity with a 54% increase in those moving in. Overall, the West has represented the highest inbound movement.
