Finally, the sun popped out today. When I saw that, I made a beeline to Utah. My first stop just so happened where a movie crew had set up shop and was loading gear into a helicopter. That confirmed I had selected the right place to spend part of my Sunday.

I had driven by the Fisher Towers Trail on my last trip to Moab and didn't have time to stop. I wasn't about to miss the chance to hike it on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. When I rolled up to the trailhead I noticed and RV, several cars, trucks, and to my surprise a helicopter sitting beside the road.

I didn't stop to ask what the shoot was all about. The guys were really busy loading camera gear and I didn't want to interrupt. I can only imagine what it may be like to fly over the place.

Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, this 2.2-mile backcountry trail provides access to one of the most unique geological hikes around. The Fisher Towers Trail was a great stop on the way to my final designation, Arches National Park.

The route of the Fisher Towers Hiking Trail is marked by small rock piles where it crosses areas where the path of the trail is not obvious. I got crossed up a couple times and found myself retracing my steps when I had ventured off the trail to take a photo.

It's a beautiful place and if you've not made the trip over to Utah and made the hike, I highly suggest you do. It's an amazing place. So cool, camera crews fly over to get footage.
