Thomas Eric Duncan, the first US ebola patient diagnosed in the US has died.

A statement released by Texas Health Presbyterian stated that Duncan died at 7:51 am, Wednesday (Oct. 5) monrning.

According to Fox News, the statement from the hospital read:

“Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola. He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”

Duncan was the first person diagnosed with Ebola on US soil and was given the experimental medication brincidofovir. He was in critical condition, on a ventilator and kidney dialysis before his death.
