In spite of the natural release of water from the sag pond atop the West Salt Creek landslide near Collbran, residents are asked to remain on level two alert.
As the snow melts and the spring runoff occurs, The Mesa County Sheriff's Office has a specific emergency plan in place if an additional mudslide occurs in the West Salt Creek area near Collbran.
The community of Collbran is coming together this Saturday, (June7) for a special fundraiser to benefit the victims of the recent mudslide on the Grand Mesa, as well as to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
The recent mudslide in the Collbran area could produce more of a threat than originally thought. The slide created a "dam of rubblized, disturbed bedrock," that could lead to more mudslides.
