Friday Night Lights

High school football is great, you never know you will see or what will happen during the game. I have seen some weird things in a high school game that you would never see at the college or pro level. I will have to say this is the fist time I have seen anything like this.

It was a cool, rainy night at Stocker Stadium for this week seven's 'Friday Night Lights' game of the week as Fruita Monument was hosting the Montrose Indians.

The Fruita-Monument Wildcats were on the visitor's side for the second week in a row at Stocker Stadium, this time against the winless Central Warriors. It was a different Grand Junction team that they were playing, but the results were the same.

The Palisade Bulldogs were mauled by the Rifle Bears. Yes, it is an old and awful cliche', but it really fits in this case. The number one ranked Bears came to Stocker Stadium to play the number two ranked Bulldogs in class 3A play Thursday night (October 4th) in the first of three nights of high school football for the Grand Valley teams.

This week's Friday Night Lights game was a Western Slope rivalry as the Grand Junction Tigers hosted the Fruita Monument Wildcats for the Grand Junction Tiger's homecoming game. The Grand Junction Tigers were the favorites in this game, but the Fruita Monument Wildcats were not listening to any of that. Friday night was a busy night for high school football on the Western Slope! All of the local team had games on Friday (September 21, 2012) with Central High School's homecoming game happening under the Friday Night Lights at Stocker Stadium. All other teams were on the road.
