Grand Junction is well known both regionally and nationally as offering some of the best cancer treatment in the country. Now, it's even better thanks to the STAR program.

STAR, Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation, takes the treatment of cancer a step further by offering treatment to help cancer patients get back to as normal a life as possible.

The STAR program trains and certifies teams of cancer rehabilitation specialists that coordinate rehabilitation with a cancer survivor's treatment.

St. Mary's Hospital is the first in Western Colorado to have a team of clinicians and providers who are certified in the STAR protocol.

To help the community better understand how the program works, the hospital is hosting a public open house at St. Mary's Medical Pavilion from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on April 21.
