Durango recently named one of America’s Coolest Small Towns

Every year the travel site Budget Travel pots a list of the "Coolest Small Towns In America." This year Colorado's own Durango made the list. Not only is it on the list, it's #4! The travel website searches from coast to coat to find the "coolest' based on several criteria. First, is community spirit, the beauty, and finally, cultural diversity. After what must be an exhausting task 2018's Top 10 is out. To see them for yourself click HERE.

The top spot goes to Beacon, NY. The others in the Top 5 are Sonoma, CA, Gatlinburg, TN, Durango, and Ephraim, WI. Durango was the only Colorado town to make the list. The website says Durango finished near the top because of it's abundance of outdoor activities, downtown, and the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

Here's what Budget Travel had to say about Durango..."Hiking in San Juan National Forest. Savoring downtown’s restaurants and art galleries...Durango boasts as many outdoor activities per capita as any town in America, ensuring that vacationers have a nearly endless choice of daily activities. But when you’re not skiing, hiking, or mountain biking, Durango’s downtown offers historical walking tours and an array of great restaurants, theater, music, and art galleries. We love that you can choose between staying in an alpine cabin or a luxury hotel and that this small town offers refreshingly convenient public transportation for maximum relaxation."

So if you're looking for a weekend getaway you may want to give Durango a try. Besides, how many times do you get to say you hang out in "One of the coolest towns" in America?
