Something Strange May Or May Not Happen On September 23

There is a growing buzz on the internet that some world-changing event will take place on or around September 23. The theories involve numerous references to the number 9 and 23 in TV and movies including episodes of The Simpsons, the movie Evan Almighty, David Bowie's puppet movie "Labyrinth" and the restarting of the CERN particle collider and no, I'm not kidding.

I will admit that some of the CERN stuff is pretty creepy. Opening up other dimensions where "something may come through" (the CERN administrator's words not mine) really don't seem like a good idea. And, the fact that they have a statue of Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction equals strike two. They're also talking about creating black holes. I know enough after watching movies on SyFy that this doesn't end well.

What will happen on September 23? Will the world be struck by a meteor? Will "the destroyer" come through a portal and annihilate us? Or will it be something worse - like a reunion of The Partridge Family?
