A man who is suspected of fatally shooting an 11-year-old boy on Saturday (November 12) turned himself into law enforcement, gave a statement, was released and then later arrested.

According to the Sheriff's Office the suspect, 41-year-old Jeremy Mushrush, contacted police Saturday after learning law enforcement was looking for him. It was during that call Mushrush agreed to meet with Deputies at the Sheriff's Office.

Mushrush arrived at the Mesa County Sheriff's Office gave his statement then was released.

After further investigation of the case, including a review of  Mushrush's statement, a warrant was issued for the arrest.

On Sunday morning (November 13), Sheriff's Deputies and Grand Junction Police officers located the Mushrush's vehicle at the Grand Junction Woodsprings Suites, 659 Market Street.

At about the same time, Mushrush contacted dispatch and agreed to meet with Sheriff's Deputies at which time voluntarily agreed to turn himself over to deputies for arrest.

Mushrush is facing charges of Manslaughter, Attempting to Influence a Public Servant, and Prohibited Use of a Weapon.

The incident that led to Mushrush's arrest happened on Saturday at approximately 6:18 p.m. when Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shooting at 3060 Sandpiper Avenue.

The shooting victim, an 11-year-old boy was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he died.

Because this is an active investigation conducted by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, District Attorney, and County Coroner the identity of the victim as well as other information about this case has been sealed by the court.
