The search is on for three missing hikers from Fruita on the Grand Mesa.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Department, an adult female and her two daughters, went missing Thursday afternoon. The trio was last seen at around 1:30 pm Thursday at the Flowing Park Overlook. It's believed the three were hiking the Mesa Top Trailhead, which runs along the Delta/Mesa County line.

The adult female was last seen wearing Capri jeans with a white and black or white and gray zip up hoodie. She is described as a 40-year-old female 5'4" weighing 147 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

The 10-year-old girl was last seen wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with gold tassels and shorts. The 8-year-old girl was last seen wearing capri pants and a darker-colored shirt with tennis shoes.
Several agencies and volunteer groups are involved in the search as well as rescue dogs and an airplane.

UPDATE:  The missing hikers were located at around 2:00 Friday about 8 miles from the Mesa Top Trailhead. The hikers found a cabin on George Creek Road and were able to call 9-1-1. The cabin was outside of the 10 miles square search area rescuers were scouring on Thursday.
 
The missing hikers were identified as Marshia Peterson of Fruita, and her daughters Signe, and Zophie. The three were found safe and in good health.
