ABC 4 Utah is reporting that Salt Lake City has imposed a controversial ban on pet stores in the city. The ordinance declares that only animals from shelters can be sold through these stores

Here's part of the report on what the city is doing.

Salt Lake County Council passed an ordinance Tuesday that would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and bunnies at pet stores. The only way stores could sell those pets is if they came from a shelter. Some pet shop owners say the law wouldn't prevent bad animal breeders.

What do you think? Should Grand Junction follow Salt Lake City's lead and pass an ordinance like this? Or, do you think our friends in Utah are way off base?
