Riverside Parkway Reopens Today

As part of the City of Grand Junction's continued city beautification projects, Riverside Parkway was closed today from between 9th Street to Winters Avenue.

If all went according to plan, the parkway should have reopened this afternoon at 4 p.m. Crews have been replanting trees in the median islands, begin the installation of rock mulch, and doing other work along that stretch of road.

The normally quiet Parkway could be seeing more traffic in the near future. The Las Colonias Park amphitheater is ahead of schedule. The community raised $2.1 million locally to match a $1.6 million grant from the Department of Local Affairs. Once slated for a fall of 2017 opening, if the mild weather continues, the venue could see action by the end of summer.
