If you don’t follow Rian Johnson on Instagram, you’re missing out. He posts beautiful photos (most in black and white) of his work and travels, and even adds the occasional Instagram Story. Like today, after he attended the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story and shared his very positive thoughts on the film.

Even he admitted he’s not the most unbiased audience in the world, joking “who’s going to read this and take me seriously?” Still, he was clearly so enthusiastic about the standalone Han Solo movie that he was moved to share his thoughts. Calling it “great” he added:

Donald Glover is great in it but duh. Alden [Ehrenreich] is terrific, he’s not doing a Harrison Ford impersonation but he brings his own charm and swagger to the character. The big surprise for me was Phoebe Waller-Bridge who has a few of the funniest moments I’ve ever seen in a Star Wars movie...

Johnson is not alone; early buzz on the film out of the premiere was largely very positive from critics in attendance. Johnson closed out his story encouraging people to see Solo (“it’s super fun”) and then noting “he should get back to writing,” presumably his upcoming Star Wars films set outside the primary Episodes. And in the meantime you should be following him on Instagram.
