The good news is we have been having great weather in Western Colorado. The bad news is we have been having great weather in western Colorado and Powderhorn has been forced to postpone opening day.

Powderhorn Mountain Resort had planned to open this weekend, and plenty of skiers have been making plans to be there this weekend. But, the mild weather has made that impossible. According to the Powderhorn website, there is no definite opening date at this point. It all depends on the weather.

Powderhorn's Dave Smith told KKCO the resort has received only 12 inches of natural snowfall, and warmer night time temperatures have hampered their snow-making capabilities.

At this point, it's day by day as far as when Powderhorn will open. As soon as there is sufficient snow, they will be open for the season, so skiers get ready. It won't be long!
