Naughty Dog Co-Presidents Confirm New Project ‘on the Scale of Uncharted’

The studio behind Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, The Last of Us and Uncharted has some big plans in store for the future.

Game Informer sat down with Naughty Dog co-presidents Christophe Balestra and Evan Wells to talk about the future of Uncharted, The Last of Us and a major upcoming project the studio has in the works. In the interview, Wells and Balestra covered a lot of ground in terms of future projects and many of the rumors their company faced in terms of the many departures Naughty Dog has faced in the past year.

In response to the rumor that Uncharted lead and series writer Amy Hennig was ousted by The Last of Us' co-leads Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, the Naughty Dog co-presidents said the following:

"We feel it necessary to clear up a very important point that was unprofessionally misreported when the story broke. Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann were not involved in what transpired. It was very upsetting to us that dozens of stories were run, linking back to the same hurtful accusations in the original report. As co-presidents of Naughty Dog, we are responsible for all studio affairs."

Besides the next entry of Uncharted for PlayStation 4, Naughty Dog still has more downloadable content for The Last of Us planned along with the game's Remastered edition for PS4. In terms of a new project, Wells said the following, "we definitely have another project on the scale of Uncharted in very early pre-production stages. We have the sizable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it's got a long runway in front of it."

No telling if this mystery project will make a showing at E3, but we're definitely hoping for some more details on Uncharted 4 next week.
