I must say, I wasn't sure what to expect but when I saw the crowd Saturday at Riverbend Park in Palisade, I was blown away. The 25th Aniversary of the Colorado Mountian Winefest was well run, organized, and everyone in attendance was having a great time.

I'm not sure what the final numbers were but the park was filled with festival-goers. However, it never seemed too crowded or the sample lines too long. Everyone was smiling, in a great mood, and genuinely having a great time.

You never know. Some festivals it's too packed, or the lines too long, or there are not enough port-a-potties. This past Saturday in Riverbend Park everything seemed to be rolling along smoothly. I didn't take in any of the wine and food pairings, or tour the local wineries, but from my couple laps around the park, I took in plenty. Not so much wine, I'm not a big wine guy, but it was fun watching everyone else enjoying the beautiful day.

The festival began for me on the rooftop of the Avalon Theatre on Friday evening. It was my first time inside the venue. What a great theater. We're really fortunate to have a couple of great places downtown to take in live music and entertainment. The fact is, the more I hang around here in Grand Junction, the more I'm beginning to like it. Who's up for another festival next weekend? I hate that we have to wait 363 days for the Colorado Mountian Winefest 2017, but I'll be ready. Wine rocks!
