South Dakota Government Officials Thinks MMA is the Child Porn of Sports

Mixed marital arts, or MMA as it’s known, has grown in popularity over the past few years. Except in the fine state of South Dakota. South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard opposes a bill in the state that would regulate sports like MMA. Why? Because he thinks it would “legitimize” the sport. I hate to tell you this governor, but MMA is a legitimate sport.

Now, if the governor doesn’t like MMA and would like to keep it out of his state, that’s okay! I don’t think it is very smart not to regulate the sport, it should be safe for all involved. He is not the man in South Dakota that is scary, that would be Representative Steve Hickey. Rep. Hickey wrote in his blog: “MMA Cage fighting is the child porn of sports” WHAT? I almost blew coffee out of my nose when I saw this.

Mr. Hickey, MMA is a bout between two adults, who know the risk and are voluntary participants. Is it violent? Sure it’s a fight and fights are violent, but this is not ancient Rome. There are doctors on hand and a referee to stop the fight when it’s over. In no way should this be compared to children, who have been taken advantage of by EVIL people. Does this mean people who watch MMA are just perverts who need to be locked up? No. What he hell is wrong with you?

I’m a fan of MMA, I enjoy the pay-per-views when they are on and I go to our local “Cage Wars” events. I have never thought of a MMA event as child porn! Mr. Hickey if you do, then maybe you need to see someone about your thoughts. They are a little scary.
