Regis Philbin set the bar pretty high as host of the game show  Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Regis is smooth, personable, confident, and funny. Meridith Viera took over as host when the game show  launched  a daily version, and she has been a pretty decent host- fun and sympathetic. Meredith has done it for 11 seasons, and now is moving on. Who can possibly fill Meredith's shoes??It's none other than Cedric "The Entertainer"  who has been tapped to host the upcoming 12th season of the syndicated game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

"I’m truly looking forward to hosting Millionaire," the 48-year-old actor/comedian said in a statement, adding, "The show is a modern day game show giant...It’s going to be a good time every day!"

Replacing long  running game show hosts is never easy. The Price Is Right has never been the same since Drew Carey stepped in for Bob Barker. Let's Make A Deal has never been the same since Monty Hall. Can you imagine Jeopardy without Alex Trebek, or Wheel of Fortune without Pat Sajack? The (sad) day is coming.

Cedric currently stars in the TV Land sitcom The Soul Man.
