According to Matador Network's website, The Mesa Theater in downtown Junction is one of the best places in Colorado to take in live music.

I've only been to one other venue that made the list. Red Rock's Amphitheatre, in the conversation for the best outdoor venue in the US, was #2 on the list. Second to The Fox Theatre in Boulder. I've not been there but I've heard from bands that it's a cool venue and of course being in a college town certainly doesn't hurt.

I was surprised to see Denver's Paramount Theatre not make the list. I have been there. It's old school (opened in 1930) movie house feel and art-deco makes for a very special venue. At 1,700 capacity, it's a perfect size.

The Mesa Theatre ranked #8. Given all the venues in Colorado, cracking the top 10 is pretty impressive. I've made it inside the friendly confines several times now and enjoyed every show. No question old converted movies houses make for excellent live music venues and The Mesa is a good one.

A quick reminder, Salt Lake's very own Royal Bill is in town next Saturday night. Enter that into your phone's calendar and makes plans to check them out.
