The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks defeated Western State Colorado University 22-19 on Saturday at Stocker Stadium.
Trailing 19-14 entering the 4th quarter, the  Mavericks mounted a 16 play 93-yard drive capped off by a 6 yard run by D.J. Hubbard. The two point conversion was good and the Mavericks led 22-19 with 7:19 to play.
Western State moved the ball into field goal range, but missed a game-tying field goal with a minute to play.
Jake Cimolino led the Mavericks with 84 yards on 19 carries against a Western State defense that was very stingy.
Quarterback Deke Cisco was 8-20 for 86 yards an done interception...and added 25 yards on the ground.
The Mavericks improve to 4-6 and will close out the season next Saturday on the road against Adams State in Alamosa.
