Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil will return for its second season in just one week’s time, but that hasn’t stopped Defenders fans from looking to Luke Cage as our next big debut. Now, we’ve finally learned that Harlem’s hero for hire will arrive on Netflix in September, thanks to Luke Cage star Mike Colter himself.

Colter dropped the news himself at the Daredevil Season 2 premiere, saying “Daredevil premieres on March 18, and I will see the fans on September 30,” around the 2:19 mark below. That’s certainly a bit earlier than the November Jessica Jones debut last year, a second season of which has yet to be scheduled.

Thus far of Netflix’s Luke Cage, we know that Sons of Anarchy vet Theo Rossi will play “Shades” Alvarez, alongside Mahershala Ali’s Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard, Frank Whaley’s Detective Rafael Scarfe and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight. Marvel menace “Diamondback” has been rumored to appear, while Rosario Dawson  is confirmed to her reprise her role as Claire Temple for a more significant arc. Star Mike Colter has also previously spoken to the musicality and flashbacks of the series, which Cheo Hodari Coker will showrun.

We’ll also likely meet Iron Fist toward the end of the season, but stay tuned for more news of Luke Cage’s 2016 premiere!
