Fisher’s Liquor Barn in Grand Junction, Colorado has been family owned and operated since 1980. Located on the very piece of land that the Fisher family started Fisher’s Dairy back in 1957, Wayne Fisher built the first Fisher’s Liquor Barn. In 1975 Wayne got his liquor license and by 1980 had the original 4200 sq. ft. liquor store up and running in the same spot the old family farm house was located. For the next twenty years Wayne Text Box: worked to build the store through good times and the bad times, including the Oil Shale Bust in the mid 1980’s, all the while continuing to keep his intent to offer a fair price on every item in the store and the best customer service possible.
In 1998, we decided it was time to expand the store. Wayne held on to a good portion of the land from the Dairy and decided to move the store to the current location just about 400 yards away from the original store. In 1999 we opened the store with an expanded selection and a brighter and more open retail space. As it turns out the new store was not quite big enough and in the year 2000 another 2000sq. ft. was added.
At this point the store was doing well and Brandi, Wayne’s daughter, was beginning to take an active role in the store. Brandi started out upstairs with bookkeeping and learning about the business from Wayne. Over the years as the store grew, Brandi began to assume management of the business and eventually became the owner. Along with the transition from one generation to the next, it was decided that the store needed another update.
In April of 2007, we opened the latest expansion to Fisher’s Liquor Barn. At 26,000 sq. ft, Fisher’s Liquor Barn has become a beautiful, trendy, yet still very comfortable place to find everything you need. Plus, we built Fisher’s Plaza, a strip mall behind the liquor store where we opened Fisher’s Market which offers all natural meats, cheeses, seafood and other specialty food items. With Brandi at the helm and the support of her husband Jay, Wayne can now relax and enjoy the legacy he built. Fisher’s Liquor barn currently employs over 30 people, all of which are TIPS certified, several have Wine Sommelier Certification, Colorado Wine Certification and Food & Wine Pairing Training.
In a partnership with Two Rivers Winery, we offer Fisher’s Old Barn Red, Fisher’s Charolais White, Fisher’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Fisher’s Chardonnay. On the Spirits side of things, we are happy to be working with Woody Creek Distillers for production of our custom Fisher’s Small Batch Whiskey. Also, our Whiskey section is packed full of hand picked Single Barrel and Small Batch Whiskeys and Bourbons including Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace, Russels Reserve, Eagle Rare, Woodford Reserve, Jack Daniels, Crown Royal and Knob Creek. All of which were selected by the staff of Fisher’s Liquor Barn.
In 2012 Fisher’s Liquor Barn won the Colorado Retailer of the Year award from the American Beverage Association and we take pride in continuing to offer a fair price on every item in the store and the best customer service possible.
