In light of the recent negativity towards law enforcement agents, Friday (Jan. 9) has been deem National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Let's show our local law enforcement agencies that we really do appreciate what they do.

Every day 780,000 police officers pin on their badge and go to work to protect their local citizens knowing they could put their life in danger.

Each year, between 105 and 203 officers die in the line of duty on average, 50,000 police officers are assaulted, 14,000 are injured and more than 300 commit suicide each year.

For this special day, Big O Tires in Grand Junction wanted to show their support by doing something creative.

Starting today, January 9 through January 30, Big O Tires is asking children 12 and under to submit drawings illustrating what police officers mean to them. 18 kids will be randomly selected from these submissions and will receive a goodie bag filled with fun and educational items.

The drawings will be distributed to Mesa County law enforcement to show the support of these men and women working to protect our community.

The drawings can be dropped off at any of these three Big O Tire stores:

  • 215 N 3rd St
  • 2894 North Avenue
  • 2462 Highway 6 & 50
