There's a lot of interest in the upcoming documentary, 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,' especially given all of the previously unearthed material expected to surface in the film. But HBO may not be the only place you can tap into this rich history.

According to Rolling Stone, there will be a 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck' companion book that will be published by Insight Editions on April 7. The book is said to include "a mixture of animation stills, rare photography and other treasures form Kurt Cobain's personal archive."

Cobain's family gave director Brett Morgen unprecedented access to the singer's archives during the creation of the film and the vocalist's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, also served as executive producer on the project. Morgen stated, "Once I stepped into Kurt's archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media." It was recently revealed that the documentary would include some "previously unheard originals" from Cobain's past.

Look for the documentary screening at the Sundance Film Festival before its HBO debut on May 4. The book release will actually precede the HBO airing, arriving on April 7.
