A meteor blasted through the skies of Russia's Ural region Friday morning (February 15th) and exploded in the sky causing windows in buildings to shatter, leaving hundreds injured. Check out the insane video footage.

According to CNN, the meteor explosion caused as many as 725 injuries, about 270 building were damaged including hospitals, kindergartens and schools.

The meteor that caused the damage is believed to be part of a larger meteor that entered the atmosphere and fragmented into three different pieces. These meteorites are said to have been scattered across three different regions in Russia, one of them Chelyabinsk, and another in Kazakhstan.

This meteor blast just happens to be on the same day that the larger meteor known as 2012 DA14 makes its close encounter with Earth.
