In Australia, ‘Traveler’ Doesn’t Mean What Patrick Dempsey Thought It Meant
Patrick Dempsey and Renee Zellweger were on an Australian TV show the other day to promote "Bridget Jones' Baby" and it ended up being educational for those of us who don't live down under.
Somehow, the slang term "traveler" came up, and Patrick thought it was a beer that you take for the road. But that's a roadie, not a traveler. Traveler means something else entirely. And one of the hosts told him, "You're not supposed to say that."
Nobody would say it on the air, but the guy did whisper it in Patrick's ear. Apparently, in Australia, a traveler is an erection that someone gets while riding public transportation. And that's one to grow on!
