How to Destroy Angels are getting ready to play their first shows as a band, and it's always helpful to be fully staffed. The band, which features Trent Reznor, Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan among its ranks, just added another familiar face in Reznor's Nine Inch Nails cohort, Alessandro Cortini.

HTDA just released their 'Welcome Oblivion' album, but up until this point they've been relegated to studio work. With the disc now in stores for people to hear, Reznor and his crew are ready to translate it live and he's added Cortini presumably to handle a multitude on instruments. His role in Nine Inch Nails had him primarily taking on keyboards, though he also played guitar and bass on certain tracks. He performed with the band from 2005 to 2008.

Cortini's involvement in How to Destroy Angels was confirmed in a Facebook posting, which also revealed that indie upstarts DIIV would be opening a majority of the shows on the band's forthcoming trek.

The multi-instrumentalist was also revealed to be part of Nine Inch Nails' re-configured lineup. Reznor announced earlier this month that he was re-activating the band from their supposed retirement. However, the latest edition of the band only finds Cortini and drummer Ilan Rubin among those returning from the last Nine Inch Nails incarnation.
