A new memorial statue is being dedicated this week in Grand Junction to honor the memory of local children.

A total of 13 nameplates has been attached to the statue in honor of each child who has died from abuse of neglect since 2006 in the community. The statue sits on the lawn of the Old County Courthouse at 544 Rood Avenue.

The dedication will take place on Wednesday (July 1) at 12:15 p.m. The 'How Are the Children?' statue is a community project funded by grants, donations, and local businesses including Alpine Bank, Mays Concrete, and Whitewater Building Materials.
