Sad news to report from the Guns N' Roses camp. The father of guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal has passed away.

The GN'R shredder wrote a song 'Father' for his dad, which was released as the fifth installment of nine digital singles put out in 2011. Bumblefoot's father was suffering from Alzheimer's before his death, which Bumblefoot addresses within the song's first verse: "Father - do you remember me / Father - where are all our memories / Father - don't want you to fade away / All our lives disappearing into the gray."

Bumblefoot announced the passing of his father in a series of tweets last night (Dec. 3):

Guns N' Roses also memorialized Bumblefoot's father while sending their best wishes to the 44-year-old shredder:

Our condolences go out to Bumblefoot and the entire Thal family. Send your best wishes to Bumblefoot to his personal Twitter page or in the comments section below.
