My buddy Tom contacted me today to tell me about a new business on 12th Street in Grand Junction. Have you seen the new Hawaiian restaurant across from the Moss Performing Arts Center?

I stopped by today to check it out. Ekahi Grill To Go has been open since October. You'll find them at 1230 N. 12th Street, right between Jimmy Johns and the FedEx store at 12th and Glenwood.

I'm not sure how I missed this place. My route takes me down 12th Street all the time. Then again, driving that part of 12th requires your undivided attention and eyes on the road.

Step inside Ekahi Grill to Go and you'll be greeted by an incredibly friendly staff. At a glance, the menu consists primarily of steamed rice bowls with a variety of different meats. Menu options include:

  • Chicken Katsu
  • Maui Chicken
  • Volcano Chicken
  • Kauai Chicken

There are, of course, a variety of other options. According to the clerk, a popular "breakfast" item for the students at CMU would be the bowl of steamed rice served with a choice of meat, along with scrambled eggs, topped with brown gravy. That sounds a little busy for me, but the students seem to like it.

The majority of menu items range in cost between $8.95 and $13.95.

I didn't have the opportunity to try the place out. With any luck, tomorrow will present the chance to give it a try. Looking at the reviews on Facebook, it seems customers really enjoy the place. According to their Facebook page, they are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday.

Welcome to Grand Junction, Ekahi Grill to Go. Your location is spectacular. I look forward to visiting in the near future. If you're looking to try a new Grand Junction eatery, make a point to swing by.
