Running like Santa Claus for a great cause - that's what it's all about.

The 3rd Annual Santa Cause Run happens on Saturday, December 15th and you are definitely going to be seeing red.

The Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department partners with the Kiwanis for this unique running event. The goal is to get over 300 Santa's running down the riverfront trail, and they are almost there.

The first 325 people to sign up get a Santa suit to run in - and then they get to keep the suit. It's quite a sight to see. The run will start at the amphitheater at Las Colonias Park. at 9:00 Saturday morning.

There is a 1k for kids under 11 and a 5k for all ages. The registration fee is $30 in advance, and $40 the day of the event. You definitely don't want to wait any longer to register if you want to be assured of getting a Santa suit. Pre-registration will close at 5:00pm on December 13. By the way, entry in the 1k is free with a paid entry in the 5k.

The money raised goes to the Kiwanis who are raising funds to upgrade Grand Valley playgrounds to make them more inclusive and accessible for all children. What a fun event for runners - and for a great local cause.
