Thursday is the Great American Smokeout. Promise to quit and McAlister's will hook you up with a free sandwich.

Quitting any habit is tough. Kicking the smoking habit is one of the toughest. It's a vice I never picked up, although I've had family, friends, and girlfriends that have battled the addiction. Thursday is another chance to kick it. I reminded everyone of this event last year. If you're still battling with tobacco, here's another opportunity to try and kick it.

McAlister's Deli and St. Mary's Hospital have teamed up again this year on Thursday, November 16th, the American Cancer Society's annual Great American Smokeout.

Anyone that pledges to go "cold turkey" and quit smoking will receive a free turkey sandwich from 5-7 pm Thursday. You'll not be actually quitting "cold turkey." The Mesa County Tobacco Free Team will be there to help. The St. Mary’s Survivorship Program will be helping too with free nicotine gum and patches through their local Tobacco Cessation classes. Now's your time to quit.

McAlister's Deli is at 480 West Park Drive here in Grand Junction.
